Celebrating Mother’s Day in 2021. It’s fast approaching and we’re in another lockdown. At least, here in Ontario. How to celebrate? Read on. Remember the date: Sunday, May 9th!
First, let’s acknowledge all the moms, mother figures, and anyone who is nurturing, caring for, and comforting others during this pandemic. Thank you!
Let’s also not forget that Mother’s Day is a difficult day for many. If you’ve lost your child or your mom, you’re a birth mother who made an adoption plan, you’re trying to have a child, you have a difficult or estranged parent-child relationship, we hold space for you on Mother’s Day.
How to show your mom some love
I can tell you right now, I would love to be taken out for Sunday brunch, dinner, dessert, coffee, anything that involves getting out of the house and not cooking or cleaning up. I know this is the sentiment of most moms, most years, but I think this year even more so. We’ve had more than 365 days of being stuck at home making meals. I, for one, am tired. What’s the option? Order in. Here are some local Ottawa eateries offering something special for Mother’s Day:

Mother’s Day Gift of Services
And finally, there are always gifts that deliver experiences. It could be something your mom looks forward to after Covid especially if it’s for pampering and wellness services. Or, it could be something she enjoys now online like a creative activity. Think self-care, health & wellness, relaxation, and fun. Here are some suggestions:

Until next week,
~ Colleen
