Goal for March
This is my goal for March: Sell out of my Lynne bamboo leggings. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of winter. I want the snow and cold to be gone, and quite frankly, I feel the same way about my leggings. Love them but I’m ready to move on. I’ve been living in them almost every day since Covid began. It’s time to make room for spring/summer dresses and tees.
I’ve sold out of every size of the leggings except Size 1 which is an XS/S. Many of you bought your first pair of these soft comfy bamboo pants, and then you came back for a 2nd and even 3rd pair. The high waistband holds you in a way that keeps everything in place and lets you breathe.
Mishaps happen
In last week’s blog, I wrote about stepping up my game with my manufacturer because sometimes mishaps happen. The Size 1 leggings is one of these times. I have 3 different weights of bamboo: jersey which is lightweight for dresses and tops, French terry which is a medium-weight for bottoms, and fleece which is a heavier weight for jackets and bottoms.
Naturally, different weights behave differently and have a different amount of stretch. This batch of bamboo leggings was supposed to be made out of the bamboo French terry. Instead they were mistakenly made out of the bamboo fleece which has less stretch.
This wasn’t much of a problem because we were going into the fall/winter season and fleece bamboo leggings are cozy for the cooler weather. However, the fit was different particularly in the waistband of the Size 1. It was a little snug pulling them up over my hips. Once they’re up, they’re fine. And, they do stretch with wear. The other sizes were great. Thankfully, after the first wear, they were much easier to pull up. I’m happy to report that customers who’ve bought them haven’t had a problem. I always give them a little heads up though.
Learning from mistakes
You might be thinking why didn’t I just send them back to the manufacturer to be re-done. That’s a fair question. The truth is I wasn’t supplying cut sheets with fabric swatches so the cutters and sewers could see and feel the fabric. And the black French terry and fleece look identical on the outer surface. In fact, they start out as exactly the same fabric. The fleece is just put through a further process of roughing it up so you get that fuzzy feel on the inside.
At the end of the day, it was at least partially my fault. Plus, the time involved to get the pants re-done was not in the cards for either party. And then I would still have the original Size 1’s anyway.
Looking for XS/S customers
So this is my story of my Size 1 bamboo fleece leggings and why they’re now 60% OFF. They’re still the same great quality, comfort, and fit after the initial snugness over the hips. I know there are women, even girls, out there who they’ll fit perfectly. I just need to find them. So I’m putting this out there. If you know of anyone who would fit an XS/S and would like a pair of bamboo leggings at a great price, please send them my way. 13 is my lucky number!
Until next time,
~ Colleen
