One Style of Pant, Three Generations
This is Colleen and her mom and daughter. Three generations wearing the same bamboo pant. And they all look fantastic!
How did that happen you might be wondering? Did they go shopping together at the same store? And did they all just happen to pick up the same pant and head off to the fitting room? Well, no not exactly.
Let’s start from the beginning. Colleen purchased a pair of the Lynne bamboo pant for herself. But, they weren’t quite the right size. So, she passed them on to her teenage daughter who really liked them, surprise, surprise!
Colleen bought another pair for herself in the right size. Then Colleen brought her mother to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Crush It for Cancer event where I had a booth. Her mom bought a pair as well and a Vesna Cardigan. Hence, three generations wearing the same bamboo pant.
Fashion for All Shapes, Sizes & Ages
When I started out designing the COKANNA Canadian made bamboo clothing line, I wanted the pieces to be versatile. I design with a woman’s changing figure in mind. As we mature, hormones kick in and our bodes change. The line is geared towards women 40 and up. I never imagined teenage girls would also be interested in some of the pieces.
I have another customer, Lorraine. Her daughter often steals her Maddison zip up top out of her closet and wears it. In fact, we ran into them at a party one holiday season. We walked in the door and there was Olivia in the Maddison top. Which by the way is named after my daughter. Both girls were adopted from China at the same time. They have been friends since we brought them home to Canada. Maddison, my daughter not the top, laughed when she saw Olivia wearing the Maddison.
So, COKANNA really is fashion for all shapes, sizes, and as it turns out, ages. When women first look at the Lynne pant, they often say those are not going to fit me. I need a bigger size. But, I tell them, trust me. Just try them on. And they’re always pleasantly surprised. They fit virtually everyone. But, I never thought three generations would be wearing the same Lynne bamboo pant. Now that’s a pleasant surprise!
Come and see the Lynne pant on our runway role models at the Fun, Friends & Fashion Show on Sunday, September 15th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. You can even try a pair on for yourself!
